Park set for Expansion

Hi there! I'm Emma, and my husband and I are the owners of Kookaburra Park. We've been VERY busy behind the scenes to get the next lot of plans for the park approved through council, and what we thought would be a 1 year project has been over 2 years now... with approval still pending!

For now, why don't you join us in our day dreaming of where the park is heading...

For starters - if you're new here... we purchased the property September 2019, and whilst it was an operating caravan park, it looked and felt nothing like it does today. We rebranded and renovated and launched as Kookaburra Park in March 2020 (you can see where this is going, right?) 10 days later we were shut down with the first of many covid lockdowns.

Long story short, we made it through that rough patch (definitely questioning our decision to quit our jobs to pursue this full time, eeeep!) and since then have never stopped adding new activities, amenities and improving the park in a slow and sustainable way.

Before I start babbling (typing) on, here's whats on the agenda:

Converting our front reception/shop into a proper cafe! Think toasties, pies and sausage rolls, epic cookies and pastries, acai and other treats... and the BEST HOT CHOCCY OF ALL TIME. And don't forget coffee of course!

Whilst we are a licenced caravan park, in order to do what we want we have to change our approvals over to an eco-tourism destination that includes camping and cabins so that won't be changing too much other than our bank account in council fees to make that change... blughh.

But what IS going to be new and exciting is us changing out existing cabins for even better, more exciting and unique themed cabins (more on that once we get approval) as well as a glamping village. No, not canvas bell tents. Think more like beautiful chalet style cabins with beds, aircon, tvs and decor (just no bathroom or kitchen). We'll also have a vintage caravan glamping area too. So we'll be catering for all camping / glamping requirements!

The biggest part of our development application is to become an events venue. We'll mainly be doing weddings, which we absolutely adore hosting (not currently taking new bookings sorry!) but all manner of events we will be approved for. Honestly, weddings aren't much different for us than a normal weekend other than the guests are better dressed and we get fed! Weddings and whole park events will mainly be during the low season and mid week for us - dont' worry all school holidays, long weekends and peak times will remain as our normal camping weekends.

Alongside ALL of this comes requirements for upgraded effluent systems, entrance, roads, parking and a very long list of complaince items. So the full plan will take time (and money) but we are very very excited about it all.

In the meantime, we are constantly working on new and exciting things. At the moment we are in the planning stages of a new low-sensory play area, and an entire month dedicated to autistic & neurodivergent families. Keep an eye out on socials around July when we open up for bookings for November.

Thank you to all of our regulars and repeat guests who have seen us from run down dodgy caravan park through to what is now a beautiful family friendly farm stay style park. We absolutely love it here, and can't wait to show you what is next.

In the meantime, I'll be taking some maternity leave for a few months with the arrival of mini ranger #2 almost due - and I hope once I'm back in khaki we'll be ready to roll out these plans!

Emma
